A YouTube star has been accused of cheating on his wife with a self-proclaimed “pigeon fancier”, abusing his spouse and soliciting nude photographs from his female fans over several years.
Jared “ProJared” Knabenbauer, 33, is a well-known gaming YouTuber, who boasts more than 1 million loyal subscribers to his channel where he regularly reviews video games and gadgets.

He has been married to popular cosplay artist Heidi O’Ferrall since 2014, but allegations of abuse and infidelity surfaced this week, following a statement released by Knabenbauer on Thursday, informing his fans the pair were divorcing.

“This decision was reached after extensive individual therapy on my part and couples therapy together,” Knabenbauer wrote.
“Heidi’s privacy, mental wellbeing and discretion has always been and will remain my highest priority through all of this.”
He also warned his loyal followers that they may read “rumours, speculation and gossip” about him in the coming days but not to take them seriously.

CHEATING CLAIMS
In more than 43 highly publicised tweets, Ms O’Ferrall outed her estranged husband for allegedly cheating on her with Holly Conrad, a self-proclaimed “pigeon fancier” and “medievalist”.
The pair regularly work together at different gaming industry events.
Since the scandal has erupted online, Holly has changed her Instagram account to private.
Ms O’Ferrall said the pair had been texting each other explicit images and arranging times to meet over a period of months last year.
She said the “brutal betrayal” had cost her the love of her life.

She said Knabenbauer’s announcement was “not a mutual statement in any way” and proceeded to paint a very different picture of her famous husband, which has since gone viral.
“I’m honestly shocked that he posted this today because it’s so blatantly selfish,” Ms O’Ferrall wrote.

Knabenbauer allegedly broke up with his wife in February, claiming he had “tried to make things work”.
“I have spent the last year in near isolation, ostracised from Jared’s friend group because he made it clear to me that I was not welcome around them even when we were ‘still together’,” she said.
“He had to keep me separate to keep up his lies.”
He was unable to confess to his infidelity even when presented with proof. He squirmed in denial until the last minute, getting angry and defensive instead of apologetic. I believe he has compartmentalized his feelings/memories to suppress his guilt. He's VERY convincing.

“He feels entitled to silence me. He thinks it’s his right to keep his infidelity a secret, as though his reputation outweighs my trauma,” she said.

ABUSE ALLEGATIONS
Ms O’Ferrall alleged her husband had “absolute financial and social control over me” during the five years of their marriage.
“I have been powerless by comparison. I couldn’t even move out without him consigning my lease,” she claimed.
“I couldn’t even get away when he didn’t want me anymore.
“I want nothing more in life but to escape my cheating husband and the reach of his social influence.”

NUDE PHOTO ALLEGATIONS
Ms O’Ferrall said she was also aware that her husband was requesting nude photographs from his fans over a period of years.
“I was there. In the beginning, it was a joke …” she said.
“Then it was its own tumblr account just for nudes. It was ostensibly a body-positive space for consenting adults, and I approved on that basis.”
She said she believed her husband’s actions were to encourage people to share their nudes as “consenting adults”, but this allegedly turned into something else entirely.
It kept escalating secretly. He started a Snapchat, for getting nudes from fans, without telling me. I found out via a fan comment. I felt pressured to allow it even though I was uncomfortable.
Anytime I gave him an inch, he took a mile.
She thought her husband had shut down the account in 2017 but she soon received information contrary to this.
A ProJared fan, called Danielle, contacted Ms O’Ferrall this week saying she had been sent nude photographs by her husband as early as February this year.

GASLIGHTING CLAIMS
Ms O’Ferrall alleged her husband gaslighted her for months, saying she was crazy to question his loyalty to their marriage.
“Jared tried very, very hard to make me feel responsible for everything that’s gone wrong in our relationships,” she claimed.
He went so far as to blame me for being suspicious and making him 'feel like a bad person' by questioning his loyalty. He gaslit me for months, insisting that he had 'the bare minimum interactions' with her and 'didn't even like her'. Meanwhile, THEY WERE HAVING SEX

It’s a streamer scandal extravaganza, as YouTube gamer ProJared stands accused of cheating on his wife with the ex-wife of another online personality. As this drama unfolds, here’s what you need to know about ProJared.
“My wife Heidi [O’Ferrall] and I have filed for divorce,” online gaming personality ProJared, 33, tweeted on May 9. “During this time you may see a lot of rumors, speculation and gossip going around,” he added, and that was the understatement of the year. His soon-to-be ex-wife, Heidi, unloaded on Twitter, accusing ProJared of “f*cking Holly Conrad behind my back for months. … I have proof. Explicit conversations and photographs of their relationship, which he extensively lied to me about on many occasions.” The scandal has rocked a corner of the online streaming community. While all the JonTron fans mock ProJared and the Reddit detectives piece this scandal together, here’s the scoop on the man in the middle of it all:
1. ProJared is a YouTube personality. ProJared, born Jared Knabenbauer, is “a YouTube video game reviewer who is most known for his One Minute Reviews,” according to KnowYourMeme. His first video was posted to YouTube on Sept. 17, 2010, and as of May 2019, his main channel had over a million subscribers. In addition to these reviews, he makes longer videos, like Top 10 lists. On his Let’s Play channel, which includes videos of Jared playing video games, he has over 300k subscribers. Among some of his higher-profile videos is the 2017 interview with Reggie Fils-Aime, the then-President of Nintendo of America.

2. His wife, Holly, is a gamer and a cosplay star. “It’s good to be back in costume. Comic book Black Widow today at Louisianime!” Heidi tweeted on April 19, 2019 (h/t Heavy.com), as she posed in a very authentic Black Widow costume. While Heidi is predominantly known as a cosplay star, she also has a Twitch channel of her own.
3. Jared’s channel is part of the NormalBoots network. “NormalBoots is a collective of influential internet creators with a thriving community of people who love gaming and entertainment,” according to NormalBoots website. “With over 6.82 million engaged viewers, Continue?, Did You Know Gaming, Peanut Butter Gamer, ProJared, Satchbag’s Goods, and That One Video Gamer leverage a multitude of social platforms to provide fun and enjoyable videos, livestreams, and live events around the world.”
4. Jared’s wife accused him of cheating on her with the ex of another YouTube personality... So, here’s where this alleged cheating turns into a scandal. Heidi accused Jared of cheating on her with Holly Conrad, aka YouTube personality Commander Holly, aka the ex-wife of Ross O’Donovan, a member of the popular streamer group/channel, Game Grumps. Ross and Holly announced their split in September 2018 (“Still good friends and there’s nothing but love!” he tweeted.)
After Heidi accused Jared of cheating, Holly responded by tweeting, “If you want to believe a hyperbolic statement from someone you don’t know on the Internet with no previous background information and use it to demonize strangers, so be it. This isn’t anyone’s business but theirs. If it’s worth anything, you all know me. I’d never hurt anyone and I only want the best and happiness for those around me.”
5. …which is the reason why JonTron, another streamer, was also charting. “ProJared” was charting on Twitter after the allegations broke, as was another name: JonTron. JonTron, aka Jon Jafari, 29, is another YouTube video game personality, one with over 5.3 million subscribers. JonTron created the NormalBoots network with PeanutButterGamer (Austin Hargrave) in 2010 and launched the GameGrump channel with EgoRaptor (Arin Hanson) in 2012. Austin, in a move that did no one any favors, responded to Heidi’s adultery accusations by tweeting, “this ain’t it, chief.”
JonTron left Game Grumps in 2013 to focus on his own channel and, in 2017, he was ousted from NormalBoots after appearing on a livestream hosted by Sargon of Akkad, a far-right YouTube personality. He also debated politics with Twitch streamer Destiny, in which he claimed “wealthy black Americans commit more crimes than wealthy white Americans,” per Kotaku. The online backlash led to JonTron stepping down from NormalBoots, and the network stating that they would continue “with him as an honorary founder, but not as an active member.”
With all that said, schadenfreude is a real thing on Twitter. As ProJared, of NormalBoots, was accused of cheating on someone associated with the Game Grumps community, JonTron’s fans were reveling in the scandal…even though he wasn’t involved.
